Los Alamitos, CA --When our panel of experts ranked the degree of difficulty of sports according to categories that ranged from endurance to agility to analytic aptitude, water polo came in at No. 11.
With all due respect to our experts, that's a crock. Water polo got jobbed. I know because I've seen the sport up close. I know because I got down in the water with the guys who play it and lived to tell the story ... but only just barely.
We're supposed to believe football (3), basketball (4), and tennis (7) are harder than water polo? Please.
Endurance? A water polo player swims 1.5 miles a game, with another player dragging and climbing all over him, pushing his head under the water and saying unkind things about his mamma when he comes up for air.
Strength? These guys egg-beater their legs for 32 minutes in nine feet of water, muscle each other for position and rise up into the air like they're jumping off a trampoline to shoot and block shots.
Agility? They work back-cuts and spin-moves like Kobe and Marvin Harrison. Nerve? They take 50-mph shots in the face and breathe in lungs-full of water. And they keep coming back for more.
Boxing is the No. 1 sport in our rankings, and boxing is brutal. But you know what water polo is? It's boxing plus sprinting plus basketball plus wrestling. With no floor beneath your feet.
Show me the boxer who levitates and shoots a ball with a defender in his face while he's bobbing and weaving. |

"Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life. Aim above morality. Be not simply good; be good for something." -Thoreau
"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring." -Marilyn Monroe
Develop interest in life as you see it; in people, things, literature, music - the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself." -Henry Miller
"I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints; the sinners are much more fun." -Billy Joel
"Then I had a thought. Maybe I didn't break Big. Maybe the problem was he couldn't break me. Maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed. Maybe they need to run free until they find someone just as wild to run with." -Sex and the City
"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." -Friedrich Nietzsche |

Roxy2253: (this is r. btw) well miss a., now that you are becoming a woman, i highly suggest that you take a night out on the town, drink some moonshine, and get down with your brazen hussy self. congratualtions on making it through 18 years of abstinence, and blowing it all in one night.
I'm not sure if I put this up, but it's from my birthday on June 18th and I always want to remember it. |

Yeah, it's been a while since I've written one of these because I've been to busy ::cough::
But anyway, I probably won't write that much again. This thing is so high school.
Stuff written on here is pretty much irrelevant and only really a good representation of how I feel at the time. So take it for what it is. |

<"The Peoria Tribe and other American Indians have the right to decide whether they are hurt by the Chief, not the pro-Chief supporters. And they have every right to be hurt. Their culture and history is being belittled by distorting their heritage in creating a symbol that takes part in insignificant sports games that have no association to any American Indian culture.
Imagine what it feels like to have people who have taken everything from you simplify your culture on top of it. Imagine that they take your culture and portray your history stereotypically for something as trivial as a game. The fact is the Chief hurts the Peoria Tribe and other Indians because it takes away their cultural pride, and it hurts people like me because I see good people not giving a damn about it.">
Jesus christ emo boy, can you be any more dramatic? The Chief is not disrespectful. Pretty much, we all love him and are obsessed with him, and if they took him away I would lose some major respect for U of I. If U of I changes their mascot I hope they change it to the fighting Italians or something, or the dons. I would happily dress like an old Italian lady and hand out free meatballs for the cause. |

I know no one reads this bad boy anymore, but I'm still going to write a little something something.
I feel confused. I love it here. I love college. I love U of I. I love my roommate and the girls I live with and my sorority. I love my classes, my teachers, and my TA's.
But I still miss high school. I miss knowing everyone. I miss being infamous. I miss being amazing. I miss junior year. Listening to music from junior year, makes me incredibly homesick, which is strange, because junior year was such an akward transition year, yet I loved it more than any of the other years of high school. Strange.
But I miss it. |
